Diary of Lolita Meet at Japan Day Central Park 2013

Nicole (far eft), Zammap of Zammap's Pretty Little Things (one from left), Aeryn (me at the middle), Grace (model for Gothic Lolita Wigs), Ceselia (far right). Oh my gosh I look so short here as the tolkien kodona ;_;......

On Sunday I went to the first lolita meet I've been to in about a year, since I've been crazy busy at school making art. I got to meet a lot new friends, old friends, and people I run into at conventions a lot but never officially been introduced to yet. I feel like I'm actually part of the New York Lolita Community finally even though I moved to New York two years ago haha! I also met the designer of Gothic Lolita Wigs and Dolluxe, Charles Reger :3. I don't have a photo with him cause he didn't want any photos ^^;;. When he saw me, he immediately recognized the wig I was wearing and proudly told me he designed it ^^. He was very funny and charming, hopefully since he lives in the city I'll get to meet him more as well.

Zammap and I <3 We sorta match haha! I was so happy to see her and hear her super cute voice again :D!

Emilia in a cute strawberry BtSSB coord and I looking not too short for once lol.

Emilia looked so adorable! She even had a beret that looked like a strawberry! I never have been able to see her in person since last year's New York Comic Con. But I'm super happy I got to know her better through Japan day, she is so sweet and cool at the same time <3~

Emilia's strawberry knit beret~

Besides the really great performers, singers and entertainment, and cultural activities Japan Day had, there was FREE SWAG! So Emilia was able to get an entire crate full of really good tea :3!

Zammap trying to balance all the teas xD! She's actually been to clown school by the way and actually knows how to juggle ;)!

Photoception! The water ballon Zammap is holding is from Yo Yo Fishing at the festival booths.

Me jumping the tall rail

The lolitas and I had to keep jumping this railing to get off the concrete pathway and onto the grassy picnic area. It was really funny to watch the girls in huge dresses, skirts and heels trying to jump it. I had nothing too cumbersome I was wearing but the rail was so tall compared to me which was a whole other can of worms to deal with lol.

The performance area where there was live singing from Japanese guests and bands, and even my old love, TAIKO DRUMMING! (Yes I used to be in a taiko drumming club at my previous college. So I know how to play taiko drums. I was the smallest person in the club!)

Zammap starting touring us around different parts of Central Park since I've never seen this part of it before. I literally freaked out when she took us to where they filmed the New York episode of Doctor Who!

Arthur Darvill taking photos of the crowd during the filming of Doctor Who's New York episode (The same place I was!)

Then there was this amazing gorgeous gigantic fountain!!

They even had a lake where they had GONDOLAS and Victorian ROW BOATS!!!! Turtles and fish were in the lake too.

After we were done exploring around the surrounding area of Central Park, we went back through the Doctor Who filming area again to take couple shots of Zammap and I since we saw a married couple taking a photos together in the archway next to us haha.

From there, Emilia and I said adieu to Zammap and went to go get lunch at Alice's Tea Cup Chapter II near by for some Earl Grey tea and some smoked salmon sandwhiches!

Everything was so delicious as per usual. We both went home afterwards and called it a day.

Thanks for reading all the way to the end <3! I'll be posting about Gothic Lolita Wig's new line of eyelashes called Dolluxe because GLW was giving away free eyelashes to the New York Lolita community to get our first opinion of them as guest models.

Enlargement: 9/10

For lenses that are not dark brown or black these lenses provides lots of enlargement even though they are 14.5 mm in diameter, they look more like 15.0 mm lenses. They also have an average size black limbal ring that help enlarge as well. These lenses really make my eyes look like I'm opening my eyes really widely like this face: O_O because of their design which can appear to give the bug eyed affect on some people and especially if you have no make up to balance it out.

Color Intensity: 9/10

AMAZING color intensity. These are very opaque and almost rival my EOS Dolly Eye lenses! From my photos in different lighting conditions, these red lenses look pretty much the same amazing bright true red in every lighting condition. The color is so intense and vibrant you can see make out the red from even photos from a distance and poor or low light conditions. Sometimes if you are lucky, you even get the halo affect which makes the lenses even more special and vibrant looking. Unlike many other red lenses, their color appearance is a true medium to light red and not a dark wine or burgundy. They do lean more on the warm side than the cool side.

(Lower - 0) Natural/Realistic or Cosplay Design (Higher - 10) : 8/10

The huge enlargement affect and bright color intensity hold these lenses back from ever being natural looking. When I wore these lenses out everyone immediately noticed and commented on liking my red contact lenses, so you aren't going to be fooling anyone. The color vibrancy and design reminds me a lot of glass eyes you can buy for Ball Jointed Dolls. If you have brown eyes these lenses will give you an very animal like appearance because of their large pupil hole design. For people with light eyes, I warn you that these lenses will noticeably show your natural eye color through the large hole designed for your pupil, and lots of it (which isn't good)! So I recommend these only for people with dark eyes. These would be amazing for cosplaying a young character with red eyes, a Ball Jointed Doll or who is an animal or creature. These are perfect for Alice in Wonderland White Rabbit inspired cosplays or outfit coordinates because the bright red color and design reminds me a lot of albino rabbit eyes. These pretty much scream "COSPLAY!!!" to me so I don't really recommend them for daily wear as they aren't at all realistic looking. FANTASTIC for cosplay, especially for anime characters because of their design and severe enlargement affect.

Comfort: 7/10

Once I put these lenses on they are pretty decent in comfort level. I can still constantly feel them on my eyes though and are noticeably thicker feeling in comparison to my EOS lenses. They aren't as bad as my GEO Princess Mimi lenses though probably because they are not 15.0 mm and smaller. They do dry out at the end of the day and do make my eyes feel tired at the end of the night once they dry out at around the 8 hour mark. But they don't get so uncomfortable that I get headaches. I would be wary to always bring eye drops with these lenses for during conventions, where I know I would be wearing them all day.

Does this have a "dolly" appearance?:

No (they in fact make your eyes have an animal-like appearance instead)

Would I Repurchase:

Maybe if I had a specific coordinate or cosplay in mind.

Overall & Other Comments:

I really love how bright these lenses are. They are just fabulous for cosplay. I actually bought them intentionally for a white rabbit kodona/ouji coordinate I have planned. I'm probably just spoiled with having worn EOS lenses so often but I really wish these were a tiny bit more comfortable to wear but I guess the lense thickness is the trade off you take for intensity of their color. I'm never going to be wearing these lenses without make up and false eyelashes outside cause I think they just are too huge and unnatural looking on me...I really wish that the pupil hole wasn't so dang huge personally, then the lenses would be a whole lot more versatile to wear and perhaps be more feasible for daily wear.

Diary of Photoshoot Day at Central Park Conservatory Garden

Last Saturday, my friend Angelica and I went to Central Park to meet up with Emily Fleischman for a lolita photoshoot in the Conservatory Garden. This was the first time Angelica and I have ever been to the gardens before. Seriously, I've been to Central Park sooooo many times, but I didn't even know the Conservatory Garden even existed! It was a super gorgeous day and all the garden's flowers were in full bloom like a magical garden. It has this amazing mossy lake in the center near the gates, where you can fish or sit and lounge in the sun.

The terrace was amazing! Lots of people were taking photos and in the middle of photoshoots while we were there. That's Emily right behind me in the hat ^^.

When we walked deeper into the garden, Angelica and I were time after time stunned at how beautiful it was. Seriously! Everything looked like it was out of a fairy tale book. They even had a stereotypical pathway full of falling cherry blossoms!

I was so happy to visit the garden for the first time, while my friend Angelica was in town to visit me. I was feeling really stressed and anxious from some family matters the day before and this experience made me feel so much better. Lots of local people and some young girls came to take photos of Angelica and I, after I was finished with the photo shoot and we decided to fully explore the gardens. We met a few other photographers who came to originally take photos of the park but instead took photos with us instead ^^.

I'm so grateful I have such great supportive and genuine friends. Angelica has a beautiful smile that makes me feel so happy, so I took photos of her too :).

See! Doesn't she have an amazing smile?!

Anyway, after the gardens we went to have a quick meal at Alice's Tea Cup Chapter III. Just some  Earl Grey Lavender tea and some scones. If I remember correctly we ate a Smoked Salmon sandwich with poached egg and some greens. No pictures of that sadly :(. But I remember an adorable little girl sitting next to us saying I looked like a princess, looking starstruck the whole time ^^;;.

After the meal we went to the JFK airport to pick up a Taiwanese International Student I was hosting for the weekend before she flew back home for the summer. Her name is Miki, and we used to go to the same college about 5 years ago. She's really cute and even though we haven't talked since 5 years ago, she says she has been stalking my personal facebook as a fan for a long time xD!

It was at the airport that I realized I lost my phone, so we had to go back to the park to go look for it. Well at least we got to show Miki the famous Central Park in the process.

Showing Miki around New York like a tour guide reminded me of my old job when I had to mentor international students and show them around the city. It was fun doing so many touristy things though.

Now that we had a third person to take photos, Miki could take proper photos of Angelica and I :D!

Ah man, that little boy kept running into my shot of the fountain ;_;
Angelica and I changed to outfits that were more comfortable before coming back to the garden to look for my phone.

We found out a little while later my morning cab driver had found my phone. Apparently I lost it in his taxi instead of the park like we had thought xD!

Thanks for reading my long diary entry <3!

Preview of my next circle lense review on Vassen (i.fairy) Dolly Plus Red coming soon!
